Silk is back and badder than ever! Cindy Moon - the other victim of the radioactive spider that bit Peter Parker - has been working to find the missing members of her family since she escaped the bunker that was her home for so many years. But Silk's quest has taken her down a darker path than expected, and now she's in cahoots with the most ferocious feline in the Marvel Universe: the Black Cat! But not everyone in the Cat's criminal crew is happy about the arrangement. Nor is a certain friendly neighborhood CEO of Parker Industries, and that will bring Cindy into conflict with Spider-Man and the Goblin King! What could have led her to this? Who is Espectro? And will Cindy go so far there's no redeeming the Sinister Silk?… (más)

This is volume picks up the same story lines in the previous Silk. Cindy is trying to find clues on what happened to her family.

She is working undercover with Shield to get into Black Cat's trust and Shield is helping her try to find her family. We see the day to day of Cindy trying to find the balance between work, being Silk, having friends, and keeping her sanity while trying to juggle that and everything else that comes her way.

She was locked up for 10 years, so she is behind on everything. I love her quirkiness when she interacts with people. She's a bad-ass yet still naive in the world.

I love Cindy and can't wait to see where her journey takes her. I did not like the art in this book, some where great and some was just not my style. Looking at each issue we have different artists, so for the whole Graphic Novel, there was 3 different artists. Each artist has there different way to draw, which makes sense, but it also came off weird to have people, like Cindy, drawn a different way then before. When just a few pages ago, she and others were drawn one way.

The story was good, we see in this volume that they are building towards a bigger story line. Will Cindy find her parents or more clues to what happened to them? What's Black Cat planning? What will happen with her working for shield? She is green in the field as a shield operative, but I love that about Cindy. I want to see more interaction between Mockingbird and hopefully Spider-woman in future volumes.

Besides the art choices, I love Cindy and the story was good. I will read Volume 2 ( )

Silk, Volume 1: Sinister collects Amazing Spider-Man no. 1 and Silk vol. 2, nos. 1-6 written by Robbie Thompson with art by Stacey Lee, Veronica Fish, Tana Ford, and Ian Herring. Following the events of Secret Wars, Thompson and his artists relaunched Silk as part of the All-New, All-Different Marvel brand. Despite the start back at issue number one, this follows the story as it had been going without much mention of the Secret Wars. Cindy Moon found her brother and is helping him with physical therapy while balancing work at J. Jonah Jameson's digital news service, and doing her superhero work by working undercover for S.H.I.E.L.D. to infiltrate Black Cat's gang. Along the way, she's using her time with Black Cat to strike back at the Goblin Knights who hurt her brother. Thompson continues to tell a riveting story with humor and pathos that also explores some new angles in the Marvel Universe. Fans of volume 0 will find plenty to like here, but new readers are encouraged to start with volume 0 in order to fully appreciate this story. ( )

Silk Vol 1: Sinister Have I told you yet how much I love this character?
Okay, I'm pretty sure that happened back when I reviewed Silk Vol 0. She's adorable and figuring out the superhero thing. She's also figuring out the whole people thing. After having been locked away for ten years, people and some technology take a little time.

As far as story goes, this one picks up a little after Vol 0 left off. It helps to know what happened in the last volume, but it would not distract from the story to come in here. All the necessary backstory is right in the volume. I love that this story continues to showcase more Marvel women. There are appearances by Black Cat, Mockingbird, and Spider-Woman. I wasn't a big comic reader as a child, and even those that I did read were never Spider-Man, so I wasn't familiar with any of these characters. I enjoyed getting to know them. It's a great story, different from the typical I-have-powers-and-must-beat-things-with-my-fists-now story.

Silk is a great superhero, definitely a recommendation to anyone into who is into superheroes, and especially those who enjoy diverse ones!  ( )
