Ben Porter is one of only two men allowed inside the women's colony of Harper's Station, Texas. He is a freighter by trade, and works closely with local shopkeeper, Tori Adams, to transport the colony's goods to market. He's fallen hard for the shopkeeper and her son, but Tori has had a troubled life, where she believes that a man, any man, is the last thing she needs.

Ben convinces Tori to partner with him in a new venture, delivering goods to area farms and ranches, where he will finally have a chance to spend some time with her and show her how much he cares. But an accident shakes his plans up, and also shakes up strong feelings in Tori's heart for this big sensitive man.

You can read this as a stand alone, but I highly recommend you read "No Other Will Do" first as you get to know the town and these two people even better. This was a favorite of mine. I so enjoyed Ben (and his horses) and the patient way he took care of and protected the woman he loved. The author states that "she believes the world needs more happily-ever-afters" and this book is one of those stories. Looking forward to more books in this series. ( )

Tori Adams has lived in the women's colony of Harper's Station almost since its founding and has always been grateful for the almost complete absence of men in the community. Benjamin Porter has been working for Tori as a delivery driver for over a year and while he knows how terrified she is of men, he also knows that there is no other woman he could love more. When the pair head out on a trip to drum up more customers for Tori's store will Benjamin finally have the opportunity to prove to Tori that she'll be safe with him always.

This novella falls pretty shortly after the events of the first book in the Harper's Station series and follows up on the obvious tension between Tori and Ben from that novel. Witemeyer deals well with Tori's backstory and still crafts a sweet romance. Sweet and largely satisfying. ( )

Karen Witemeyer is a must read for me. I loved going back and revisiting Harper's Station. This is part of that series, but can be read as a stand alone Novella. Tori had to learn that she could trust Ben and that he would help her deal with the demons that haunt her from her past. As always Karen had done a wonderful job and I would highly recommend it. Can't wait for her next book Heart on the Line to come out. ( )
