Rachel had depth. Rachel has secrets. Rachel had more to her than first appeared on the surface. With these thing said. Book two of the series brings on more edge. There was a serious undertone of darkness surrounding Rachel’s secret. There were things that she just wasn’t able to face or share, but that had all come crumbling down. All of it was revealed.
I did not find that you had to read book one to connect to book two. I found little to make them essential to each other. This was a great standalone that gave you just that a standalone of Danny and Rachel (and Hope). (
