It got preachy in places, but it was preaching to the choir to this reader, so it's all good. Patricia Audette chose a subject that isn't easy to deal with in fiction or in life. Somehow or other she pulled it off, though. Even the name of the character, Hope Nightingale, was well-chosen.

I couldn't figure out how Hope was making a living as a part-time conservator, though. We know she chose not to purchase health insurance after the ACA was passed (interesting political comment that thankfully passed by without follow-up). I figured it was a safe bet that her boss wasn't paying her a higher salary when he made his money from "caring" for the people's well-being.

I'm glad a younger person's story was included in Hope's work. I'd read it again and recommend it. ( )
