This book is a great example of fantasy and real life. The fantasy is the married couple are alligators instead of humans. It shows how supportive a spouse is suppose to be but it's also funny because they are always in competition with each other. That is something that everyone goes through in life but in the end no matter what you have to stay supportive. ( )

One day Mr. and Mrs. Green go fishing. Mrs. Green can't seem to catch a fish, while Mr. Green has caught over a dozen. She asks him to switch sides of the boat, hoping this would work. But when they swapped, Mr. Green caught himself another fish and Mrs. Green still had no such luck. They tried trading poles. He even let Mrs. Green wear his lucky hat, but still nothing seemed to be working. Finally, Mr. Green reveals his secret: he has been using jelly beans for bait. He lends Mrs. Green a jelly bean and, at last, she catches a fish. ( )

Review: This book is an example of fantasy because it is set in a realistic modern day setting, but it incorporates the element of fantasy because the characters are talking personified alligators. They have adventures such as going fishing with jellybeans, painting abstract paintings and going to the park and having ice cream. The reader is able to relate well with the characters because they are going through everyday ordinary experiences.
Characterization: Mr. Green is an example of a round character. We learn much about him such as his interests and thoughts. He is a static character in the book because though he is well known, no specific changes occur in his life or character.
Media: Mixed media: paint and colored pencil ( )
