Angela Bowling finds a baby bird and in a ridiculous story illustrated brilliantly by Quentin Blake, she continues to feed the bird and treat it like a human baby until it is so large it barely fits into a garden shed. What could make for a sad ending is made only humorous by Blake’s decision to have the bird periodically revisit Angela with a present of dead mouse! The illustration style and sense of humour in this story are distinctly Blake! ( )
