I normally do not find myself gravitating towards short stories or anthologies because I am fearful of them being inconsistent, which I know is silly. This book on the other hand was an utter delight and never really felt like short stories as such, but rather is felt like my childhood memories of grandmother's kitchen table during Saturday morning coffee. ( ) This is an interesting collection of stories, each pretty much independent of the others. Each story was originally presented at live events called "The Moth" where participants simply "tell stories." Each of the stories included in the book is interesting and engaging, some are humorous while others ponder great pain and tragedy. Together, they pretty much run the gamut of human existence and combine to form an engaging anthology. Altogether, it is good read, book hard to put down, and a memorable experience from beginning to end. This is an interesting collection of stories, each pretty much independent of the others. "All These Wonders features voices both familiar and new. Storytellers include Louis C.K., Tig Notaro, John Turturro, and Meg Wolitzer, as well as a hip hop "one hit wonder," an astronomer gazing at the surface of Pluto for the first time, and a young female spy risking everything as part of Churchill's "secret army" during World War II. They share their ventures into uncharted territory--and how their lives were changed forever by what they found there. These true stories have been carefully selected and adapted to the page by the creative minds at The Moth, and will encompass the very best of the 17,000+ stories performed in live Moth shows around the world."-- No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |
