President Jack Spiers and former Secret Service Agent Ethan Reichenbach throw caution to the wind, committing themselves publicly as the first out male lovers and partners to occupy the White House. Jack moves Ethan into the Residence, but as Ethan settles into his new role as first gentleman of the United States, not everyone is thrilled with their choices. When it seems like the world turns against them, Jack and Ethan must turn to each other, finding the strength together to press on. In the chaos, Jack's relationship with the Russian president, Sergey Puchkov, grows closer, and the two nations find themselves working almost as allies. But President Puchkov has secrets of his own, secrets that could rip everything apart. And Ethan steps back into the action with Lieutenant Adam Cooper, taking charge of a covert kill team tasked with hunting down General Madigan once and for all. But Madigan is elusive, and his dangerous reach is long. He strikes at Jack and Ethan from the shadowy corners of the globe, unraveling their entire world. As the mad general draws new allies together, he is single-minded in his quest to destroy the only two men who ever beat him. Contains mature themes.… (más)

How do I give a 6th star? ( )

3.5 rounded up to 4 stars. A bit more of a cliffhanger ending than I expected. Very little felt resolved, yet this book was also longer than average (as is the next). So the plot arcs feel a little wonky. The characters were quite daft at times as well, which felt unlike them. And the plot was a considerable stretch. Very nearly had a Romeo and Juliet ending that felt kinda facepalm, and I didn't buy the clone storyline at all. All that aside though, it kept my interest and entertained me. And I generally like these characters. ( )

Interesting and well written, but then we can expect nothing less from Tal Bauer. President Jack and his First Gentlemen Ethan are negotiating their relationship with the world watching and either supporting or judging them. World affairs don't stop...not even for love and neither does the enemy, Madigan, who currently is unaccounted for. We meet lots to other major players in this one. There's Jack's Russian counterpart, Sergey, who is trying to change the direction of his nation is headed. Sascha the gay pilot he saves, along with Faisal and Adam demonstrating that nationality and ideology can't hold back love. Then there's Pete, Jack's aide, and Ethan's very good friend Scott always there to support him a crisis. These men have many personal difficulties, but they are guys you will diffidently want around if the world needs saving. If you like a good fast moving political thriller, M/M romance with two hot guys and a bit of science fiction tossed in... then this is a must read. Tal Bauer has become one of my favorite authors. I was expecting thrills and action and a lot of love. I got it all but I also got some of the most emotional moments of the whole series. OMG did I cry a lot when brutal circumstances separate my two favorite heroes. But their love is their strength and I’m in love with their love story 😍😍 I also liked getting to know more about Sergey and Adam.

The stakes are even higher in this one and the action sequences had me panicked all the time. There is also quite a lot of suspension of disbelief that is required to truly enjoy this book. But this was truly an intense book, much more so than what I expected. ( )

Wow, did this book take me for a ride! It's go-go-go all the way through, yet it doesn't get bogged down in unnecessary details or lose it's focus. Everything that happens is relevant and believable and the character building of all involved is still on-going, fantastic, and intense. Your heart will stop at times, and be broken at others, yet the author never goes overboard on the angst, nor resorts to angst-for-angst-sake kind of writing.

It is a long story yet it doesn't drag. In some long books you can pinpoint areas that could have been cut down or removed. Not in this one however, lol. In fact, it's a book, once started, that is very, very hard to put down! ( )
