Steve Johnson is living his life's passion watching over the Colorado Mountains as a ranger and wildlife consultant. But his peaceful life is upended when overzealous and insanely beautiful Shannon Braden flits back into his life after returning from a brief trip home to Maryland. He thought his attraction to her was under control--after all, she's only in Colorado temporarily, and he doesn't do casual affairs. Shannon's return to Colorado has as much to do with the game of cat and mouse she and Steve have been playing as it does the data she's been hired to collect. But despite her efforts to explore the undeniable heat simmering between them, Steve's intent on keeping his distance. When a ranch abutting the national park goes up for sale, Steve will do whatever it takes to keep it from falling into the wrong hands. And when all his attempts fail, he's left with no alternative but to follow Shannon's guidance into the online world he abhors in order to raise the funds. The more time they spend together, the deeper their attraction becomes, and a game of cat and mouse turns into an unstoppable connection. But when Shannon's assignment comes to an end, will it mean an end to them, too?… (más)

To date Ms. Foster has tackled heavy issues within her Bradens series. Whether trust issues have arisen, guilt and grief associated with loss, escaping a painful past or trying to outrun hurtful accusations, these Bradens prove they are made of strong stock. Naturally, I had to read Crushing on Love. Steve and Shannon's was not as dramatic and angst ridden as some of the other romances. All in all, there were obstacles but the journey to love was sedate for this author. Wherever there's history, complication is not far behind, but the appeal of Shannon and Steve is that the subtlety added to, not detracted from. A sweetly tuned second chance story. ( )

Melissa Foster has been one of my go to authors for a while. I have loved every book I have ever read of hers, and Crushing on Love is no different. You get basically redneck meets glam girl. Steve Johnson isn’t your everyday redneck, though. He is educated and loving, although very hardheaded. He knows what he wants and isn’t scared to go after it. He and Shannon are playing a dangerous game, and their hearts are the stakes. You will immerse yourself in this story and it will still leave you wanting more. I loved this book! I was so sad to see it over. ( )

Steve Johnson was happy, living in the Colorado Mountains as a Ranger and wildlife consultant. That is until Shannon Braden turned up, talking about mile a minute, driving him crazy and researching red foxes. But this wasn't the first time Steve had met Shannon, he met her at her cousins Rex's wedding and his passions flared for her the moment that he saw her. But now she is back and Steve doesn't know if he can resist her this time, even though it will kill him when she leaves for good.

Shannon Braden wants Steve, but he seems to reject her at every turn, but when she comes back from her trip to Peaceful Harbor, Steve seems different, especially when he licks pink frosting off her finger. But when Steve's walls finally crumble, the passion explodes between them, their loves blooms father than either of them realize.

But when it's time for Shannon to leave, will they be content with a long distance relationship or will it fizzle out as fast as it started.

STOP THE PRESS!! This book is my official favorite Melissa Foster book ever!!...well at least until the next one is released! Let's put it this way! I love it so much I bought it in paperback! This book is pure love! The story of these almost long distance lovers reminded me of how I "dated" my husband while I was back home in the UK and he was here.

When it came to the characters; I absolutely loved Steve aka "Grizz", because he fully lived up to that name. I loved the was he resisted Shannon in the beginning, but realized, soon after she was back that he couldn't live without her and that he was willing to risk his heart for her. I think Shannon is one of the sweetest heroines that the author has ever written. I loved her nervous chatter and her determination to bring Steve into the age of technology is so funny!

When it comes to the writing and plot, it's everything I have come to expect from Melissa Foster! Smoothly written, without plot holes and the plot is divine and it you feel like you are right there!

I give Crushing on Love 5 stars!

Crushing on Love is Shannon Braden & Steve Johnson's story. It is the 4th book in the Peaceful Harbor series. It can easily be read as a stand alone without feeling lost among the characters.

Melissa has brought us another great couple. Shannon & Steve seem like complete opposites. Shannon loves people & social interaction. She's actually rethinking her career since she feels it isolates her too much & is more of a solitary job. Steve feels the happiest when he alone in his cabin on the mountain & away from the small town gossips. However, they both love nature & work to preserve it in their own way.

This is another great addition to the Braden series. The characters are lifelike & well developed. The interactions they have with each other & with others are realistic & pull you into the story. The chemistry between Shannon & Steve is hot & steamy! The sex scenes are tastefully done & enhance the relationship & plot rather than overwhelm & overtake it. If you like your characters hot & sexy & your sex slightly forbidden, don't miss this one! ( )
