British picture-book artist Peter Collington presents a beautifully-realized wordless tale in The Tooth Fairy. The artwork depicts a young girl losing her tooth and, with the help of her mother, placing it carefully under her pillow. The tooth fairy living in a nearby tree, in the meantime, carefully crafts the coin she will exchange for the girl's tooth. In a surprise ending, the fairy has a particular use for the tooth...

The second wordless picture-book I have read from Collington, following upon his lovely On Christmas Eve, The Tooth Fairy offer a creative interpretation and enhancement of the classic story of the fairy that exchanges a coin for children's baby teeth. I particularly enjoyed the underground scenes in which the fairy labors to create the coin, as they were wholly unexpected. I also liked the use to which the fairy put the tooth. The artwork was just beautiful here, and more than enough to carry the story. I will definitely be seeking out more of Collington's work, and thank my friend Hilary for making me aware of this one. Anyone would love this wordless book. With imaginative illustrations the author answers lingering questions about the tooth fairy. How does she carry such large coins? How can she get to every house etc? The steady plot follows the tooth fairy as she makes a coin, journeys to the pillow, and returns, and put the tooth to a perfectly logical use in her tree house. I would heartily recommend this book to any age.

With illustrations this beautiful, plot inclusions so thoughtful, and such a hardworking fairy, readers will find themselves believing in the tooth fairy. ( )

The tooth fairy gives you an inside on what it would be like if tooth fairies existed. This book starts off by showing a young girls tooth fall out. The girls mother puts it under her pillow and opens the window. Then you see in a tree near by the tooth fairy coming out of her house and going into a hidden tunnel. The tooth fairy undergoes many tasks just to make a special coin for the girls tooth. When the little girl wakes u she finds the special coin under her pillow and the tooth fairy has the girls tooth in her house. Anyone who reads this story and use to believe in the tooth fairy will feel as if the tooth fairy really exists. ( )
