Bridget has a baby the "Bridget" was for sure, this adventure back into preggo life had me more hooked than the other Bridget books, but the knowing what eventually happens from the previous book does cast it's shadow on this book ( )

Okay, so here's where I stand on Bridget Jones: I love book one and two, I'm a huge fan of the original movies, and as far as I'm concerned Mad About the Boy DID NOT HAPPEN. Not just because of certain decisions Fielding made in it, but also because it just isn't funny. My opinion on Bridget Jones's Baby: the movie is that I LOVED IT and it was everything I wished Mad About the Boy would've been.

Sooo, I should love this right? Eh, I don't know. It has potential, and I like it better than Mad About the Boy, but it's NOTHING compared to the original books. It feels entitled to say, but it's too short. It feels like Fielding didn't want to write it at all and just rushed through all her scenes as quickly as possible, and tried really hard to put some comedy in there that doesn't work for the most part.

Bridget and Mark seems at time almost out of character, which, eh, sucks. Daniel is also a big ??? because he doesn't seem able to decided who he is at all. I prefer the movie version of event, actually, though obviously this works better with Mad About the Boy ... but who cares, that book didn't happen!!!!

But it's not all bad, I feel it picked up towards the end and there were some really enjoyable scenes where Bridget was her old crazy self. I just wish that the entire book had been written like that, instead of being rushed through just to get a cool movie tie-in. It doesn't need it.

I might reread this in the future, but probs not as often as I reread the original two books. ( )

Most már jöhet Colin Firth szélesvásznon.

I'll start by explaining my Bridget Jones history for context. I've read Bridget Jones's Diary and I read Edge of Reason. I've watched all three movies, then read the book Bridget Jones's Baby. I won't read Mad About the Boy because I just can't deal with that plot twist. Anyway, that's my history with this character.

I don't know whether this book was written before or after the Bridget Jones's Baby movie.
There's a pretty significant difference between the two.
In the movie, Bridget is either pregnant by Mark or by a new man named Jack.
In the book, the father is either Mark or Daniel Cleaver. Ofcourse you can imagine the extra level of drama if these two men that have competed for Bridget for about a decade could be the dad.
Also, in the movie version, there were actually two potential dads that would both have been good dads. In the book, Daniel is still Daniel and let's just say that Bridget doesn't have two potentially great options.

I'm going to say something that I rarely say...I think the movie was better.
I laughed a ton while watching the movie and found it incredibly heart warming too.
The book was ofcourse clever for including Daniel but I didn't enjoy the overall story as much as the movie.

I liked this one much more then book three. It was funny and over the top, much the same way that the first two were. Even though this is the fourth book in the series, it's technically between books two and three. Bridget Jones had been engaged the wonderful Mr. Darcy, but after a misunderstanding it was called off and Darcy remarried. It's been five years since she last saw her ex-fiance but a baby christening throws them together. Shortly after their "encounter" Bridget has a nightly visit at her ol' pal Daniels house. When she discovers she's pregnant a few weeks later she knows she is in trouble. Who on earth is the father? Filled with hilarity, this is a laugh out loud read. Now I need to see the movie! ( )
