Several years ago, I was lucky to hear Jessica Bennett speak at a conference I was attending. She's as compelling a speaker as writer and this book is just as relevant today as when it was published some years ago now. That being said, the ground covered in this book is not unfamiliar to readers who follow feminism and sometimes I felt Bennett's approach was a little too heavy-handed. Overall, a good, engaging read. ( )

Based on other reviews I guess you either love this book and it's style, or you hate it. I absolutely loved it!
This book mostly made me laugh though if I were in a mood it could have made me cry pretty easily too.
I thought the author did a fantastic job of even calling out how much worse it is for women of color. I saw a critique about that in another review so I'm super confused as to where that's even coming from given that in almost every case the author would call it out.
I especially loved this book because it gave me affirmation about a lot of things in my life and a lot of the ways that I sabotage myself and in some cases how I already do some of the things the book suggests.
Anyway, for a non-fiction read it's my favorite since Women in Tech and for me surpasses it.
Thanks to Jessica Bennett for this. I even ordered 4 extra books and gave them away to friends at work. If I could have afforded it - I would have ordered 20. ( )

Practical. Empowering. Funny. A must-read for any woman or man entering the workforce. ( )

I liked this book! I was also happy to realize that I'm not in a sexist workplace, because a lot of the points didn't apply to me. It did give me some good pointers, both for in the work environment and outside of it.
- you may insist on receiving credit for your work
- don't do all the unseen labour in an office space
- and speak the fuck up, don't care how you will be perceived.
I'm still working on all of those things, because sometimes I just want to be nice too much :) ( )

3.5 Stars - This book is light hearted, easy to read, and an important read for young women. This has a lot of great tips and ideas and way to be your best professional self. This would be a great gift for a college graduate. ( )
