F/SF This came back to me as I read it (30 years and a plethora of books intbe meantime are reason enough for a little literary amnesia), and I remembered enjoying it even as I enjoyed it this time. Very fun. Someday, I hope to run across a copy of the original...Stasheff says it's not the same story and I'm curious as to the differences. Nice piece in the canon. So our beloved High Warlock is now the (very) proud Papa of a bouncing, blinking, levitating little baby warlock. The kid's kinda cute, but I'm disappointed that the kid's presence saves the day at the end of the book. I'm getting Star Wars Episode 1 flashbacks... It looks like we got an introduction to the two most powerful espers on the planet (Agatha and Galen) and an example of how the witch-moss works. So not too bad at filling in some world details and adding a little depth. I thought the dialog went downhill a little in this outing and about the only interesting banter involved the Neanderthal, Yorik. Alas, poor Yorik, I don't know why he gave you the name he did... About six years ago, he and his wife (and four children, who were the models for the Gallowglass kids) moved to Illinois, where he has been writing full-time.
