'Hello, sweetie!' Melody Pond, Melody Malone, River Song...She has had many names. Whoever she really is, this archaeologist and time traveller has had more adventures (and got into more trouble) than most people in the universe. And she's written a lot of it down. Well, when you're married to a Time Lord (or possibly not), you have to keep track of what you did and when. Especially as it may not actually have happened to both of you yet. These are just a few of River Song's exploits, extracted from her journals. Sometimes, she is with the Doctor. Sometimes she's on her own. But wherever and whenever she may be, she is never far from danger and excitement. This is just a tiny portion of her impossible life. But it will reveal more than you've ever known about the legend that is River Song.… (más)

I absolutely loved this. River is my favorite character besides the doctor so of course, I would love this. All of the stories were great but there was definitely some ones that stood out. ( )

A collection of five Doctor Who stories featuring time-traveling archeologist, sometime wife of the Doctor, and general troublemaker, River Song. I really like River and was a little worried that the collection wouldn't do her justice, but it turned out to be a lot of fun. The stories here range from reasonably entertaining to quite delightful, and River's voice and personality come through very, very well. As do the Doctor's, in the stories where he shows up. The plots are all various kinds of ridiculous, but since this is Doctor Who we're talking about, that is, of course, absolutely fine.

Recommended for fans of the good -- well, okay, maybe not entirely good, but always very cool -- Professor Song. ( )

Enjoyable romps with River

This is a collection of short stories by different writers. Each captures the essential River so well that you are not conscious of any shift and you can easily picture the inimitable Alex Kingston strutting her stuff through these adventures.

A great antidote to a miserable winter’s day! ( )

When I purchased this, I didn't realize it was a collection of short stories. All are written by authors who have experience writing in the Doctor Who world. The first story was the weakest, mainly because it felt more like a children's story than anything else.

I think if you are a fan of Doctor Who, and especially River, you will enjoy this book. It is a quick and easy read, and it is fun to see what River does when she is not running around with the Doctor. ( )

I think Jacqueline Rayner has the best story here, "Suspicious Minds" featuring an Auton version of Elvis and a bunch of hints at River's own past. I also liked Jenny Colgan's "Picnic at Asgard", which fills in that particular gap in continuity, and "River of Time" by Andrew Lane which actually has River functioning as an archaeologist.

I think this collection works better than The Missy Chronicles, basically because River Song is a more interesting and more complex character. ( )
