When he cannot sleep at night, a young boy imagines himself running and dancing among the star constellations as he journeys across the night sky. Leo the Lion and Ursa the Bear invite young readers to join them in the magical night world of star climbing. Dive into a shimmering star pool with Pisces the Fish, rest on the glimmering back of Cygnus the Swan. Young children are encouraged to let their imaginations soar on the whimsical journey through sparkling star constellations.

A brief explanation of some of the constellations follows the story. Enhanced with beautiful full-color art that highlights the star patterns in the night sky, the simple text is perfect for a quiet bedtime story.

Highly recommended. ( )

At night, unable to sleep a child climbs through the night sky, exploring the reaches of space. Through the illustrations, the cool expanse of space mingles with the warmly saturated tones of stars and planets, creating contrast and drama. The textures utilized in the illustrations seem to be created with floral shapes and the pattern of peacock feathers, giving the colors a luxurious depth and character. The story itself is relatively simple, with each page emphasizing a different action verb; although this lends the story a sense of movement, the lack of narrative creates a chance for disconnect. Although featuring famous constellations such as Leo and Ursa, the text itself does not introduce these characters, except in a quasi-glossary at the end that lists the constellations shown with a short blurb about the significance of each. This creates an opportunity for the readers to engage with the children by pointing out stars in their own skies or encouraging the child to make up narratives about the untitled constellations that appear in the story. Of additional interest is the nature of the main character, a child who is gender-neutral and non-descript as a person; this allows both girls and boys alike to relate to the child. Recommended as additional selection. ( )

A young boy imagines dancing through the night sky at bedtime, encountering different constellations on his journey. Though the text is nothing to write home about, the paintings capture a beautiful dreamscape. This book includes a pictorial glossary of real constellations and the Greek myths behind them. ( )

The child can't sleeping and is dreaming about being in the starry sky. He dreams from each constellations to the next drifting in the sky. He talks about how beautiful the sky is and is playing games throughout the colorful sky. Then at the end he wakes up at home in a glowing presence of his mother.
