This story begins with the boy going to his mother and asking what there is for him to do. (And he means work!!!!!) His buddy dragon is wondering about this too.
What follows is a series of chores. Boy and Dragon first help by walking their friend's dog, then they help dad rake leaves. When their friend, who happens to be in a wheelchair shows up, they rake a few more leaves, then they go off and play some basketball. At the end, boy and Dragon return home and mom lets them wash dishes.
There's a lot to like about this little practice reader. The artwork is bright and colorful, and the message that kids ought to be willing to help is just great.
One of the things I really love is the friend who happens to be in a wheelchair. This child is shown not only helping out, but also playing. There's no differentiation made, as there shouldn't be.
Nice little practice reader. ( )
