Some readers will tell you that they have a few books they cherish above all. Books that touched their soul and they couldn’t imagine life without them. Finding a story that you can connect with is a rare find indeed. Yes, you can buy a book and love it, but just because you loved it doesn’t mean that you have the urge to reread it. I’ve read many books that I have loved but only are rare few that I’ve actually wanted to read more than once.

Those rare few I’ve connected with on another level. Where the characters have wrapped themselves around my mind and refused to let go. Books so well written that days after reading them the story still dances through your mind . Books that your mind demands rereading.

I have found another of those books. I have read many of Elizabeth Kelly’s books, and have loved them all, but The Christmas Wife was such an astounding read that before I even finished it I knew it was one of those rare books.

It’s hard to explain why I find The Christmas Wife to be such a perfect read. I loved the characters as much as I loved the plot. When I started the story I was crying within two pages. Claire’s desperation, her sadness about not being able to provide for Hattie, just ripped my heart to pieces. I could feel how broke down she was, how crushed her spirit was. How she was nearing defeat. But at the same time she refused to give up, how no matter what she had her daughter and would do anything for her.

The love of a mother is like nothing else in this world and Ms. Kelly couldn’t have written Claire more perfectly. I also loved Deacon, although at first he is quite an ass, even if he’s handsome as sin.

It’s his relationship with Hattie that makes you really love him. The way he grows to care for her just makes you wish you could take him home and keep him, because folks, there’s nothing sexier than a man who loves kids and can step up and be a father to a child that’s not his.

But over all what really got me was Deacon realizing that even though he didn’t want a wife or kids, what he needed was a family. That Claire and Hattie were exactly what he needed. Oh, and I must not forget the chemistry between Claire and Deacon. It’s hot folks, scorching hot.

For those who love a heartwarming contemporary romance with a dash of erotic, I would highly recommend Elizabeth Kelly’s books ! ( )
