This counting book allows the reader to compare the weights of various creatures. How many ladybugs equal the weight of a grasshopper? Questions of these comparisons continue throughout the book while allowing the reader to count the various creatures. The last two pages of the book provide the average weights of the species pictured in the book I really like this book. Not only does it work on counting from 1-10 but it also introduces the idea of comparison (that a specific number of one item is equivalent to a specific amount of another) and addition. A perfect book for a math lesson because many problems could be pulled from the scenarios presented. For example, asking kids: if the weight of 4 squirrels equal the weight of 1 fox, and 1 squirrel weighs 1 pound, how much does the fox weigh? This book had an interesting tactic. However, I do not think I would use this one in a classroom. While it is cute and enjoyable, I did not find it to be useful. The counting is illogical and does not easily settle in my mind. However, the illustrations are well done and the introductions of counting and comparing are helpful in this book. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
