This is not 'the group forms and moves to a farm to survive' series, but much more of an action series. Two of the main characters are larger than life guys, but fiction heroes are. The author is an Army veteran, NASA engineer, and disaster preparedness expert and has published a number of well received non-fiction books as well. His knowledge and intelligence show clearly in this series. Editing: Excellent. If there were errors, they were few. Violence: Absolutely. This is a story of survival following disaster(s) so expected Page turning: Again, absolutely, although by about the fifth book I felt like the storyline was beginning to drag some and was happy to see the author finished up the INITIAL storyline with book 7. There are more available after that about the 'next phase' that I may read. Not sure yet. I read all seven in a row, fairly quickly & maybe just need a break. Also felt a little like the author was padding the story and/or stringing me along so I'd buy more of the books Other notes: Religion didn't play a huge part in this series. There were some good religious leaders and some bad ones. I didn't feel preached to but don't think that the religious community will feel offended. The book also goes a bit sci fi/fantasy with some virus victims, but I felt it just added to the plot. The Survivalist: Frontier Justice centers upon a US Marshal, who after spending a few weeks of vacation in his father's desolate cabin up in the hills, he feels rested enough to return to work. When he exits from deep in the forest, the Marshal finds it odd that there isn't any traffic and yet destroyed cars litter the roadways. He soon learns that a virus has decimated humanity and those remaining are traveling in gangs and taking what they have for themselves; often killing the men and raping the women. The marshal soon comes upon a biker gang who quickly overpower him in their clubhouse and tie up his unconscious body for a planned execution later that day. A nearby town is under the gangs control, the inhabitants cower in fear as gang members do as they please in the absence of law and order. The marshal finally learns that he may be the only representative of the law - maybe even in the entire United States - and decides it's up to him to tame this frontier. When he escapes, the bodies begin to pile up. He will be the law of the land and bring a stop to the pillaging...or die trying. Readers will also learn some tricks from The Survivalist that might save them in the event of a real catastrophe. Even though there are 10 books in the series, this book can stand on it's own without leaving a cliff hanger at the end. Nice job Mr. Bradley! John Podlaski, author "Cherries - A Vietnam War Novel" and "When Can I Stop Running?" [Frontier Justice] is the first book in [The Survivalist Series] by [Dr. Arthur T. Bradley]. It was a basic post apocalyptic survival story with some political intrigue involved. [Bradley] did a good job relating a conspiracy without blaming any current political side. Often books in this genre get very political or religious. This one did not become overtly so, which makes it more widely readable. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

HTML: When you finish the Survivalist, check out my new series, "The Watchman." Frontier Justice is the first book in the post-apocalypse Survivalist series by Dr. Arthur Bradley and features 15 full-page illustrations. The Superpox-99 virus has wiped out nearly the entire human race. Governments have collapsed. Cities have become graveyards filled with unspeakable horror. People have resorted to scavenging from the dead, or taking from the living. The entire industrialized world has become a wasteland of abandoned cars, decaying bodies, and feral animals. To stay alive, U.S. Deputy Marshal Mason Raines must forage for food, water, and gasoline while outgunning those seeking to take advantage of the apocalyptic anarchy. Together with his giant Irish wolfhound, Bowie, he aligns with survivors of the town of Boone in a life and death struggle against a gang of violent criminals. With each deadly encounter, Mason is forced to accept his place as one of the nation's few remaining lawmen. Halfway across the country, a killer is released from prison. With hopes set on a fresh start, he rescues a young girl desperate to get home. As they travel across the wasteland that once was the United States, they must call upon every bit of strength and courage to survive not only the horrors of the new world but also a violent government agenda. .No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |

I believe this came up as a free e-book. As far as I know, I've not read anything by this author before. The book was interesting--sometimes a bit scary.
I liked Bowie and his loyalty to Raines. I liked that the citizens of Boone decided to take back their town. I dislike the female president being "weak" and giving in to her VP's agenda. ( )
