I thought that this book was really good! I have had this book on my tbr list forever so when I saw that it was available at my local library, I moved it to the top of the pile. I was hooked by the story from the start and it held my interest until the very end. This is the fifth book in the Ellie Forman series but I read it as a stand-alone which worked perfectly fine. Of course, I do want to go back and read all of the earlier books from the series now that I have read this book.

I liked Ellie from the start. I don’t know that I would have dug into things quite as she did but I sure enjoyed watching her try to figure out exactly what was going on. Ellie is hired to produce a video for an aviation company. She thinks that the project is going well so she is caught off guard when one of the company’s vice presidents gets it canceled. Ellie is suspicious and wants to know why there is a sudden change in attitude so sets up a meeting with a man that she thinks might know more but when he is killed on the way to their meeting, she realizes that things may be more involved than she first thought.

This book was exciting. I had fun watching Ellie fit all of the pieces of the puzzle together as she worked to solve this mystery. Things did get pretty dangerous a few times during the story and I worried about the safety of Ellie and the people close to her. Ellie has a great support system and seems to be able to connect with the right people to solve the case. The mystery was quite complex and kept me guessing until the end.

Nan McNamara did a great job with the narration of this book. I believe that this is the first time that I have had the chance to listen to this narrator and I was very impressed. I thought that her voice was perfect for this story and I loved the way that she brought Ellie to life. I thought that she added a lot of excitement to the story through her reading.

I would recommend this book to others. I thought that this was a very well-done mystery with characters that I enjoyed. I am looking forward to reading the earlier books in this series just as soon as I get the chance.

I received a digital review copy of this book from Poison Pen Press via NetGalley and borrowed a copy of the audiobook from my local library. ( )

This is my first Ellie Foreman book and I loved it! I'll have to go back and read the earlier ones. This was a really good thriller with lots of action. Makes you a little wary of all of the government agencies that deal with terrorism, military issues etc. and how big all of that is becoming. Very interesting too with the election coming up because it makes you question who is best equipped to handle all of the issues we have now. Good job!
I was gifted a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. ( )

Ellie Forman returns after ten years. Her daughter Rachel is grown, and she's been building her career making documentaries and videos--the latest client is major defense contractor Delcroft. She;s produced a great set of promotional videos, to be rolled out over a period of several weeks on their website and social media. Some of the footage was shot at a trade show, where a man named Gregory Parks introduces himself as consultant for Delcroft. Parks turned up in an improbably high number of shots, and Ellie and her production staff cut him out as much as possible.

But not completely.

Delcroft VP Charlotte Hollander seems pleased with the videos--until she notices Gregory Parks. Then she becomes angry, calls Ellie's work unprofessional, and cancels the project. Ellie arranges to meet with Parks, trying to find out why, but he falls--or is pushed--onto the railroad tracks in front of s subway train, and is killed.

It's not long before Ellie realizes she's stepped into something much bigger and more dangerous than she could have imagined. Armed only with a thumb drive Parks dropped, she starts asking questions and attracting dangerous attention.

This is an enjoyable book with a nicely intricate mystery. Sometimes, though I got frustrated with Ellie, sometimes rushing in with apparent naivete about how dangerous what she's doing is; sometimes seeming to think that if she can only hand over the thumb drive to the right person, she'll be out of it and safe. This was a definite weakness in the story.

Despite that, I like Ellie, Luke, and their friends, and I'll be interested to read more of Ellie's adventures.

Recommended as light entertainment.

"Jump Cut," the latest installment in Libby Fischer Hellmann's "Ellie Foreman Mystery Series," returns after a 10 year hiatus and is a non-stop thrill ride from beginning to end. This book is an adrenaline rush that takes off with a bang and doesn't let up until the final pages. I found myself furiously reading into the night to find out what was going to happen next and there were several times I had goosebumps running up my spine at some of the situations Ellie got herself into.

I was not familiar with this series before reading this book, but now that I've been introduced to Ellie and some of the recurring characters in this series, I plan to read the other books right away. Ms. Hellmann has a unique style of writing that flows effortlessly and pulls you into the story in a way that makes you feel you've known these people all your life. If this book and series is any indication of this author's output, you can bet I'll be reading every single one of her books.

I enjoy a book with strong female characters but Ellie Forman (main character) seemed not just strong but reckless. Also enjoyed all the references to the City of Chicago and north shore. This was a good story just not a great story. ( )
