Every page is filled with extremely colorful and intricate pop-ups that show the reader Mowgli’s world both in and out of the jungles of India. The life of the animals that live in the jungle are more easily imaginable and relatable thanks to the illustrations and 3-D pop ups. The illustrations and pop ups of the jungle and Mowgli’s village are mind blowing, but they overshadow the text. It is a shame since the author filled the pages with colorful descriptions of the characters and events. For instance, the author had Father Wolf say, “He is as hairless as a frog” when he first layed his eyes on baby Mowgli. I also appreciated the author for retelling the story in a way that helps the human reader realize the difference in perspective between him/herself and the animal characters, which is obvious when Father Wolf says, “Look! A baby! A man’s cub!” Just for the artistic value of the book and the author’s obvious attempts to change the perspective of the reader, I would recommend this book to readers of all ages. ( ) Although Mowgli's adventures are the most well-known of the stories comprising The Jungle Book, Kipling's tales of Kotick the seal, Rikki Tikki Tavi and Toomai of the Elephants are just as enchanting. Owning this hardcover edition, with Kipling's original, lyrical prose and matching illustrations by Robert Ingpen, is to feel as if a rare talisman from the 19th Century (with all its now politically incorrect facades in plain view) sits upon your bookshelf. This was an AMAZING book!! The Pop-Up art made the story come alive. This book holds an already very creative story and Matthew Reinhart made it even more creative. This book can be read to children of all ages. I enjoy this book so much that I read it more than once. The story of Mowgli and his adventure in the jungle will never grow old. The story of family and love really shines in this book. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

In this stunning retelling of a phenomenal classic, honor is tested, battles of good over evil are waged, and the importance of family reigns supreme. True to Rudyard Kipling's original story, tree branches literally draw the reader in to this tale of Mowgli the Man Cub exploring the ruins of the Lost City, riding atop thundering elephants, and facing a fierce tiger attack! A must-have for every family's library, this epic pop-up adventure features paper engineering as intricate and magical as the very laws of the jungle.
