This is the second book featuring XXX, an airline pilot who has got himself entangled with drug cartels. This book is not nearly as good as the first and I did not finish it. The book feels as if it were thrown together too quickly. The plot is absurd. The dialogue, which was such a pleasure in the first book, is not so well written this time.

I received a review copy of Drug Wars by Robert Anderson and Steve Clark (Intrepid Press ) through NetGalley.com. ( )

Sam Claymore is a commercial airline that flies routine passenger flights from point to point. The author captures the boredom and humdrum of Sam’s daily routine and leads you unwittingly to an entanglement from Sam’s past and his involvement with ferrying drugs. A major drug lord catches up with him with intent to enact vengeance. From there on the plot is filled with high adrenaline adventure, an unlikely career in the DEA, blood, gore, terrible crimes against young women building to a crescendo, more reciprocal revenge and a final payoff but not in redeemable air miles. Best to read this in the airport after you have landed. ( )
