"When her mother suffers a stroke, medical student Deirdre O'Leary makes the difficult choice to put her career on hold to care for her. Dr. Matthew Clayborne is renowned for his amazing results with patients, but when Deirdre approaches him about helping her mother, she finds him challenging and surly. Deirdre has had enough of complicated men in her life. After her fiancé left her, she vowed never to give a man that kind of power again. Widower Dr. Matthew Clayborne is devoted to two things: his work with wounded soldiers and his four-year-old daughter, Phoebe. He won't abandon either of these priorities to care for one older woman. However, when Phoebe suffers a health scare, they're offered respite at the Irish Meadows farm, where his daughter's weakened lungs can recover--but only if he cares for Mrs. O'Leary. Matthew intends to hate Irish Meadows, yet he immediately feels at home, and soon both Mrs. O'Leary and Phoebe are showing improvement. But since he has no intention of leaving his life up north forever, and Deirdre has sworn off marriage in favor of her career, how will they deal with the undeniable attraction between them?"--Amazon.com.… (más)

This is the third book in the Courage to Dream series. I love every book that is set at Irish Meadows. Deirdre wants to become a doctor and Mathew is a doctor. He has a new therapy to help people with strokes and other health issues. Deirdre and her family learn of him when their other suffers a bad stroke. Deirdre needs to leave her schooling to become a doctor to help her mother. She loses a whole semester. She must work closely with Mathew to learn his techniques so he can move back to Toronto with his daughter. I laughed and cried during this book. This is a wonderful historical romance. I received a copy of this book from the author for a fair and honest opinion. ( )

Love’s Faithful Promise is Book 3 in the Courage to Dream series, and you will not be disappointed at all, it is an awesome addition to the first two books, and if your like me, when it is ended you will be wanting more!
This is Deidre O’Leary’s story the nurse who wants desperately to become a doctor, and at the early part of the twenty-century it was a very difficult task. This story begins with her mother having a stroke and her desire to get her the best possible help, and when Dr. Matthew Clayborn is located in Toronto Canada, she is sent on a mission to convince him to come to help. So the paths of these two individuals are set into motion, and their fate rests within them, and all that love them.
Deidre with her dreams, and Matthew with his feeling of failure, and a loveless marriage behind him, but his little daughter may just be the answer to all that is going on between them.
There is also a new hired hand on the ranch, and another member of the family is about to open their own doors.
A great read, and the only bad part was coming to the end and turning the last page.
I received this book through Net Galley and Bethany House Publishing, and was not required to give a positive review ( )

I enjoyed this story of hope and perseverance. I liked how Deidre is making a difference by trying to make her way into a field that women didn't always have a chance in. I liked how Dr. Matthew Clayborne learns to take a different look at things that he isn't sure about when he realizes that is it making a difference.
Deirdre comes home to help care for her mother after she has a stroke. While there she butts heads with Dr. Matthew Clayborne when she wants to participate in her mother's care. He has agreed to come and care for Deidre's mother in exchange for being able to stay at her home of Irish Meadows while his daughter recovers from an illness.
I received a copy of the book from the author publisher. The review is voluntary. ( )

Love’s Faithful Promise by Susan Anne Mason is the third book in Courage to Dream series. It is September in 1922 in New York. Deirdre O’Leary has returned from Boston University when she hears her mother has had a stroke. Deirdre is studying to be a doctor in Boston. The family needs Deirdre to return home to care for her mother, Kathleen (they are rich and couldn’t hire a nurse?). Kathleen will need someone trained in physical therapy to assist her, and Dr. Matthew Clayborne comes highly recommended. He is trained in physiotherapy. He spent a year in England after the war training in it. But Dr. Clayborne will not leave Toronto. He is a widow and responsible for his daughter, Phoebe. Phoebe is in fragile health. Deirdre will not take no for answer and travels to Toronto to try and persuade the doctor. When Phoebe ends up needing a country climate to recuperate, Dr. Clayborne agrees to take on Kathleen as a patient. They will stay at Irish Meadows. But taking Phoebe out of the country does not sit well with Dr. Clayborne’s in-laws when they find out. Phoebe has grown close to Deirdre and does not wish to return to Canada. Phoebe ends up traveling with the duo. What can they do so Dr. Clayborne can keep custody of his beloved daughter? Connor O’Leary is taking over for Sam, head trainer and stable manager, while he is away. Sam had hired a new stable hand before he departed. But there is something strange about this new hand. Josephine “Jo” Miller needs this job. She cannot risk losing it, but trouble arises when the heart becomes involved. Join the O’Leary family for one last installment in Love’s Faithful Promise.

Love’s Faithful Promise was enjoyable to read and it was a good finale to the series. It was nice to see Connor finally find happiness. We get to catch up with all the characters from the first two novels in Courage to Dream series. It is a mushy and predictable novel, but I did like it. The writing drew me in. The characters are likeable (friendly). The messages in the novel are forgiveness, the power of prayer, having faith, God’s unfailing love, and relying on God’s wisdom and timing. I give Love’s Faithful Promise 4 out of 5 stars. It is a very good Christian historical romance novel. I look forward to reading more books by Susan Anne Mason in the future.

I received a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for an honest review. The comments and opinions expressed are strictly my own. ( )

Courage to Dream series, Book 3

The younger O'Leary children have grown up!

1922
Deirdre O'Leary has completed nurses training and now is in medical studies at Boston University. Upon receiving a telegram that her mother has had a stroke leaving paralysis, she is on a train to New York. A month earlier she had been working at the same hospital in Manhattan. Now Mama is in a silent room.

Deirdre's father requests, with her medical understanding, that she travel to Canada to talk to a young doctor about coming to Irish Meadows to apply his experience with physical therapy to his wife's stricken limbs. Aiding injured soldiers in his practice on staff at the Toronto Military Hospital and personally attending his young daughter's delicate health following tuberculosis two years earlier, have been his immediate focus. With his wife, Priscilla, dying from the same disease, Dr. Matthew Clayborne is not prone to leave to manage a single patient in Long Island. A turn in young Phoebe's health demands that along with Phoebe's nanny, Miss Shearing, they begin their journey ~ for a month.

Fresh air at Irish Meadows has begun to do wonders in strengthening Phoebe's body and outlook. So different from the confines of the city, she has gotten some color to her cheeks... and laughter so long ago heard.

The stable brings a few surprises as new employee "Jo/Joe" stands in for her newly hired brother ~ who is working in his father's place after an injury prevents him from beginning his new position! What a web is woven for Connor O'Leary to sift through.

As the seasons turn from one to another in the normal progression, hearts are turned from an expectation of just carrying on.

For I will restore health unto thee, and
I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith the
Lord. Jeremiah 30:17

Summer winds bend to turning of leaves, to the bare limbs of winter. Within, limbs are being restored through exercise and Mrs. O'Leary is adding to the healing of a heart in Dr. Clayborne. A mother's touch to add a restoration to ungleaned memories left in the shade of days gone by.

The ending of this series brings the beginning of hope to those unfettered by disillusions never intended.

***Thank you author Susan Anne Mason for a review copy through Bethany House Publishers of the third book in her Courage to Dream series surrounding Irish Meadows! This review was written in my own words. No other compensation was received.*** ( )
