This is a story of a African American girl who father is absent from her life as well as the lives of her brothers and mother. She never knows when she will see him but is excited when she does. This story shows that with love people can make it through anything. I think this is a good read for any child who is experiencing a situation such as this.

This story is based on the author's, Sharon Wyeth, memories of her father. Although she did not see him very often, Sharon still loved spending time with him. The fact that she did not always spend time with him made her cherish the time with her father even more.

This story is told by a girl who misses her father very much, but only gets to see him once in a while. Her father moves around a lot and takes lots of different jobs, since he’s been having a problem getting his life together. During a trip to her grandparents, her father arrives for a visit. While his visit is a happy one, before long he has to say goodbye again. Yet he reassures her that he is always her father and always loves her, even when he is away. A good book for any child who misses their father, particularly if they are having dreams about him. Review by Book Dads ( )

Inspired by the author's own memories, this book creates a wholesome family story for 2nd-3rd graders. The text is simple with a few complex words and termanology, but is easy and enjoyable for lower elementary students. The books focuses on the relationship between a daughter and the love she feels for her father, who isn't always around due to his frequent switch of jobs. This book is very touching, but offers a relatable situation for children who comes from divorced families. The illustrations are appropriate for the age level and enhance the overall tone of the story. The use of round characters show the calmness and simplicity of each character. Overall the book shows the importance of family and being together. ( )
