I was all pumped to read this. I have been wrapped up in this story since the first book. This one wasn't quite what I was expecting.

First, I did like this book. It was good. It just wasn't as suspenseful as I anticipated. So, I was a little bummed about that. The first two had me practically on the edge of my seat with anticipation. This one wasn't quite there, for me.

The beginning has us ready to jump out of our seats. Cory sitting in Van's apartment with the Rothko waiting for him to arrive... I won't tell you how that goes, but I will say I was hoping for a more emotional roller-coaster from this exchange.

Then we have the drama with Jade. I think we can all admit that we don't like Jade. Not. At. All. Trust me when I say, she gets what is coming. I wanted Cory to really give it to her, but at the same time, I wanted Cory to get a happy ending. If she gave it to her the way I imagined in my head, Cory would be going to prison for manslaughter. That wouldn't make for a good book!

So, while escaping the clutches of Jade and her evil ways, Cory longs to have that chance with Van. No matter how much time passes, we see that he has touched a part of her that she can't shake. Your heart will twist a little over her heartache.

Oh... and we kind of meet her mother. What a witch, with a b. I wanted to punch her. She's on the list with Jade.

The ending... I won't tell you the ending. It is bittersweet all of the way around. It was the ending I wanted. However, the journey wasn't as heart-pounding this time around.

Overall, this IS a good book. Don't let my disappointment in the emotional department sway you. I love emotions in books. And I am a tough cookie to crack. Many may have a more emotional read than I did when reading this book!!! The series, as a whole, is phenomenal! If you were one of those waiting for the set to come out before you read it, then do NOT hesitate! I promise, you won't be disappointed! ( )
