Geeky nerd falls for pink haired next door neighbor! Can't happen, right? Wrong! Kylie introduces us to geeky Barry. Barry is smart, sweet, tender hearted & sexy! He just doesn't know what to do with himself socially. His idea of a first date is bird watching.

Amber is a energetic, fun loving sweetheart who is extremely outgoing. She is looking for that special relationship. She is an artist & very creative. The exact opposite of Barry in so many ways.

Kylie's writing pulls you into the story & keeps you involved until the end. The way she develops her characters looks simple at the start but as she keeps pulling on them, they get more & more complex. At the beginning you think there is no way that these two can ever become a couple. They are just too different. Gradually, as the characters start to get more involved, you see it happening. This story is not just a typical boy/girl/next door romance. This is so much better! The banter, humor, emotions, & plot were more than expected. You will not be sorry if you pick this book up. ( )

I'm honestly torn on this book. There were things I honestly liked: the main characters are mostly likable, the story moves along, and the secondary characters are almost better than the MCs. There were also some things I strongly disliked: the whole science experiment that Bare uses on Amber to get a sexual response, the nerdy guy who only gets the girl when he puts on a different persona.
It's a quick summer read, but I think I'm looking for Ian and Kate's story as a better option to read. This was just a little uneven for me. ( )

Fun, light-heated, funny, sweet. This is a cute story about a nerd that becomes a stud. It's a refreshing take on the romance novel hero. You can't help but love the characters as they grow and change. I would like to see Kate get her happily ever after. The story is well written and paced nicely. A quick book that is definitely worth the read.

ARC received in exchange for an honest review. ( )

Take a nerdy computer geek who has become rich from an app he created moving into a new apartment and almost instantly falling in love with his neighbor across the hall. From his past experiences with women he feels that he has to change his appearance and come on to her in a more manly way than the geeky computer expert. Their first couple of dates turn into disasters because of his interests clashing with hers. With the help of an exercise DVD and the lead role in a play being presented by the community theater group he sees a change in her attraction to him. When he puts on his pirate costume he becomes more manly and controlling. He uses this to win her over though there are some bumps in the road toward their forever happiness that awaits them.

The story is interesting because of what Barry goes through to win Amber over to his side. He is captivated by her art work and secretly purchases some of her works to encourage her. He works to get in shape so that he will be more attractive to her. When impressing her with his silliness and happy go luckiness does not work he tries becoming more demanding and controlling which his role in the play helps him create. Amber, on her part, is not sure of the guy across the hall. Yes he likes her art but he is sort of geeky and weird with the speaker on top of his vehicle and the cow suit. But there is an attraction there and when he becomes more confident and other women become interested her interests increase. They just have to get over a couple of obstacles in their way.

A very good read, The characters are well developed and the story line is excellent. It is a story that shows how two people fall in love even with difficulties standing between them. It may have started out as lust at first sight but the love grows as they get to know each other more. I look forward to other stories in this series. A job well done. ( )

This is the first book I've read by Ms. Gilmore but it won't be the last. The characters are well developed and likeable and the story never drags. I like how the main character, Barry, is a nerd but cool. It puts a nice spin on the story, instead of the "nerd" always being unable to find love or upstaged by his hot, muscled friend. This is a fun romantic read. ( )
