Digger and Daisy are brother and sister and they have both been cast in a play. Daisy is boastful about playing the Princess. Digger is playing a tree, but he wanted a larger role. Daisy insists that Digger could not handle a role with lines, because he would forget them. She herself only has two words to deliver, so she is not concerned about practicing. Digger, meanwhile, memorizes the Prince’s lines, and the Dragon’s lines, and the entire play, all the while Daisy reminds him that tree’s do not talk. The day of the play arrives and all goes well until Daisy, nervous, forgets her two words. In order to save the show, Digger pipes in and says her line “The end!” The show is a success. This book is suitable for children ages 3-7 years. ( )
