Fiction. Romance. HTML:

Jane Wilcox has a secret. She's been the incognito poker scout to a rock star poker player dressed as a smoking hot poker babe. Now that role is over, and she's living in small town Dare Valley, working as a dog walkerâ??or so everyone thinks. Without her Jimmy Choo heels and Prada gowns, she's trying to find her new sexy Inner Swan and a fairytale romance, but she's afraid she might have turned back into "Plain Jane" until she meets Matt Hale in the dog park.

The sexy lawyer has a rambunctious dog that needs her Dog Whisperer skills and slowly they move from friends to lovers. Matt is one of the good guys, a hero, totally boy-next-door material. He's returned to his hometown after experiencing a tragedy. He was unable to find justice for the woman in his last legal case, and now she's passed away and given him her dog. He's vowed to give Henry a good home and right the wrongs in the system, so he's running for mayor of Dare Valley.

Jane and Matt fall in love during sunset walks in the dog park, but soon Jane's secret past comes back to haunt her and harms Matt's bid for mayor. Can Jane and Matt's love survive the controversy?… (más)

The Park of Sunset Dreams by Ava Miles is the sixth book in her Dare Valley series. When the book first came out, it was my favorite out of the whole Dare Valley series. Since then, it's been eclipsed by The Bridge to a Better Life.

Jane & Matt are both down to earth characters and very likable. I think fear that Jane had about her past coming to light is a fear that many of us have and it was portrayed accurately and sensitively.

The writing is crisp, clean, and well done as I've come to expect from Ms. Miles' books. The whole series is excellent! Check them out and see! ( )

The beginning was excellent-a great set-up for the rest of the book. I love the dog. His preference for Jane over Matt makes me crack-up. Matt's so easily frustrated and the dog obviously feeds off of that. But it's really sweet when Matt finally connects with him and they develop a bond of their own.

But on to the real plot of the book. Jane's background is full of secrets, both sad and potentially harmful to Matt's ambitious plans. She's smart as a whip, but her family doesn't appreciate her for it. They used her until they no longer had a use for her and pretty much dropped her like a hot potato. She doesn't want to experience that again. It's hard for her to come to terms with it...until Matt enters the picture.

What I also like about it is that while Matt hates her past, he still admires her strength. The ability to walk away from it all--wealth, prestige, an "easy" life, etc. And came to small-town Dare? Inconceivable to the average person. But Jane isn't the average person. Jane is her own person and he knows that.

The one thing that bugs me the most is that the sexual scenes weren't even relevant to the overall story. It wasn't even necessary! (But this is why the book is classified as a "contemporary romance.") ( )

This is the first book I've read in this series so I have to admit, I felt a little 'late to the party' getting started. I did go and read about the first books in the series so at least I was familiar with the secondary characters.

It took me a while to get into this story. The characters took some time to develop as did the story line. Once I did however I really enjoyed it. I liked especially that Jane is a strong heroine, looking to move on on her own terms and wasn't looking for someone to rescue her. Matt too was a strong character. He showed his own growth and was wonderfully supportive of Jane's. I'll definately be going back in the series to catch up with everyone else I was introduced to in 'The Park of Sunset Dreams'.

Oh my, what can I say about this wonderful book? The book and characters snag you from the start and reel you in.
You have Matt Hale, raised in Dare Valley and returning to town as a lawyer to lead a slower paced life. You also have Jane Wilcox, who is a dog walker for her friend and boss, Rhett, with a lot of secrets of her own to keep.
I honestly could not put this book down and read it constantly(work, home, long stop lights!) The relationship between the two was gradually built and just beautiful to see. Add in the wine and food as part of the story, and you end up with a story that is to be savored.
