Shobogenzo: Zen Essays by Dogen is an abridgment of the four-volume "Kana" Shobogenzo translated by Thomas Cleary, and should not be combined with any of these.
It is also not the same as A Primer of Soto Zen, which is a translation of the Shōbōgenzō Zuimonki, a collection of Dogen's Dharma talks, or the Shinji Shōbōgenzō, a koan collection.
It should also not be confused with the Shobogenzo: Zen Essays - The Eye and Treasury of the True Law series of translations by Kosen Nishiyama as opposed to the Nishijima & Cross series.
