I picked the first book in this series to use with my Chatterbooks group a while back. I really enjoyed it, so I've been reading the rest of the series as they become available in the library. I've not read the one before this, and I normally like to read them in order. But when this was returned to our branch, I couldn't resist issuing it to my ticket. They don't really rely on knowing what happened in the story before. The few references to a previous adventure neither leave you with too many spoilers for that tale, nor leave you feeling lost in the current one.
Sammy finds himself in the middle of another weird adventure. This one is just as action-packed as the others, with Sammy having to save the day as usual - with a little help from his friends of course.
My only niggle is that after all this time he should have picked up on the clues a bit faster. Both the cause and the cure were pretty obvious from the clues.
Still, all in all, this was a light, easy read, and a story that kids will love.
I must get hold of Dragon's Gold so I've read the whole set. ( )
