Decent read.

This was a quite read, decent story. I was annoyed for the outcome of the love triangle. But I guess its a series so I'll hold out hope. It was slightly annoying that the characters repeatedly stated their titles "I'm the god of blank ...." Its hard to belie they would be constantly saying or thinking this but maybe. It would make me sad if a reader of thus series didn't have light basic knowledge of the Greeks gods. ( )

Challenge 15 for the 2019 Read Harder Challenge is "a book of folklore or mythology.". While it's probably not what Book Riot had in mind, I just finished S. E. Babin's Out of Practice Aphrodite. Think Olympus crossed with Sex and the City. Aphrodite and Artemis gadding about town with Ares, Hermes, Orpheus and Eurydice, Zeus and Hera, the three Fates, Harpies, and the sexy Sheriff of Asheville, North Carolina thrown in for good measure. Something evil is going on, and Mr. Big, I mean Zeus, sends Aphrodite to sort it out. Of course he doesn't give her all the facts; she has to do some of the brain work herself with the help of her friends. Not great literature, but definitely a fun read, and the first in a long series of novels centered on the Goddess of Love and her life in 21at Century America. ( )

I've read S.E. Babin's work before so I was excited to download this book and launch into a new series. I found this book less exciting than "The Hunt for Snow."

Abby (Aphrodite) gets herself into quite a few scrapes. She's afraid of crossing the line where Zeus is concerned. (Who wouldn't feel that way?) She wants people to know and experience love--the best kind of love. Surprisingly enough, she's failed at love herself.

With the help of her friends (Kato, Artemis, etc), she's able to go up against some powerful forces and right some wrongs that have been committed.

It's an "okay" book, but it's not a high-rating book for me. I'll stick with "The Hunt for Snow." It's more exciting for me. ( )
