This beautifully illustrated book shows children how important it is to look at things from other perspectives. Rosie loves to wear her red cape everywhere. When she goes to school for the first day of the school year, she sees a circle of boys and girls surrounding the swingset. She goes over to find out what was happening and finds the new girl, Fadimata, being laughed at because she is wearing a hijab. When the bell rings, Rosie and Fadimata walk in together. Rosie comes up with a great idea that works and the others do not make fun of Fadimata anymore. This is a great book to teach young children (ages 4 to 8 is the target) acceptance, putting yourself in someone else's shoes, bullying and tolerance.
