Wow....where to begin.

Of course our King and his mate, in this case Darius and Sophie, who met in the last book when Dr. Martin was brought in to help heal Lexi. Now Darius is taken with Sophie but his past is full of rage over an unimaginable loss. He slept centuries away hoping to awaken not feeling the rage and despair. We also get insight in Sophie and why she has cut herself off from personal relationships and love.

Their chemistry is explosive and their need for each other reaches desperation quickly. We know where this is going to lead....Ulrik finding another way to torture a King and a King finding his mate.

Now what happens in the in-between is very interesting. First Con has a face to face with Ulrik... I know both of them in the same spot and the world is left standing. I don't get why they needed to see one another since it was pretty much Ulrik just telling Con "officially" what he wanted to do and some ways he hoped to accomplish it. Con just sat there and in his arrogant I am King of King way told him "that's no' gonna happen". What really was the kicker on that meeting, Rhi was asked by Ulrik to witness the meeting so that the rest of the Kings would know what was said...as Rhi can not lie.

Ulrik also has a couple of conversations with Darius. More of the pot stirring if you will. Letting him know he wouldn't hesitate to use Sophie to hurt Darius and in turn hurt Con. To think beyond what Con has said and find the "real reason" behind some of his decisions and just why didn't he want the Kings to find mates. Casting shadows and doubts, man he's good at head games.

Balladyn is still sniffing after Rhi [and this time he caught her]. After the last battle we found Rhi at Dreagan sleeping after Con had healed her when she was hit with dark magic. From the sounds of it Rhi has finally gotten over the loss of her King's love. (What I was shocked to find out was that Darius, not her lover, is the one who broke the news to her that their relationship was over....oh my!) But our Rhi is starting to come back....we aren't dressing in black with red accents anymore. Plus we are back to collecting our bright colored nail polishes...I've missed that Rhi. Let us not forget she is still getting under Con's skin and annoying him whenever possible. I don't know what the history is there (I know there are a lot of readers who believe he is her King lover but....I don't know, maybe if I knew the kind of person Con was back then I might believe it.)

Finally more information on the Reaper's, who they are and what they are. Surprised the heck out of me to find that they work for Death. Why Rhi is of interest to Death is another puzzle and I don't think we have even half the pieces yet to figure that one out.

So even though we got our hot and steamy romance a lot of the book (for me) was about what's going on with the Kings and Ulrik. Oh....and what about Usaeil and Con? We knew they were sleeping together but has she pushed him too far? What will happen when everyone finds out about them, and they will find out...Rhi already had her suspicions about them in the last book.

This next book is going to be interesting, not only because of the King finding his mate but we will get more on the Rhi-Ulrik-Balladyn triangle...what will happen when folks find out Rhi has taken Balladyn as her lover? And did you notice the change in eye color, is that permanent? How far will the plan to destroy the Kings be moved along? The Reaper's, are they ever going to make actual contact with either the Kings or Rhi? Oh, dancing with anticipation waiting for the next book. ( )
