As a newly promoted detective, Sam Holland would be happy with an evening at home having dinner with a beer and going to bed early, but Sam has promised her sister, Angela, that she will attend a party with her. After having a drink spilled on her at the party, Nick Cappuano comes to Sam's rescue with a handkerchief and charms her into spending the night with him. Their night together leads to the promise of more to come after Nick's four week trip to Europe with his boss, Congressman Delehanty.
This novella is the story of the one night stand that took place several years before the events in book one of the Fatal Series, Fatal Affair. The story also introduces Sam's father and sister indicating the close relationship she has with her family. As a reader of the Fatal Series, the story gives background into the first meeting of the two main characters. However, it could have been a bit longer with more detail about this pivotal event in the series. ( )
