Nice little mystery with poverty, touches of larger social issues from religious persecution to government corruption, and magic. (I loved the spell baking parts, and wish there'd been more of those.) ( )

This book was so adorable, I can't wait to read the sequel. ( )

Written for a younger audience that I expected. Writing is good, although I saw many of the plot twists coming. ( )
