The entire time I spent reading this I worried about how it would end. I was semi-positive it was all just a dream or spell or something and couldn't for the life of me figure out how it could end well for Stiles, Derek, and Claude. Annnnd....that is why my BA is only in English, not Writing, because DW pulled through (why I doubted that, I have no idea).

For those who didn't read my spoiler, just remember to have faith that all will be good. I don't claim to be an expert on everything DW (or LH) but what I have read makes me think she wouldn't fuck with our heads/hearts (at least not maliciously I hope; I don't count the messy crying I did during [b:There Are No Wolves in California|25473485|There Are No Wolves in California|DiscontentedWinter|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1430661962s/25473485.jpg|45243785] as the result of an evil, sadistic writer). This definitely seems to be a case of "It's me." Clearly if fluff and kiddie fics are good with you then this is probably one of the best.

I really liked the concept of providing an mpreg (which is totally not my thing and I tend to steer clear of) without the actual mpreg. Kind of a spin off on storks delivering babies at doorsteps and voila - you've got a baby.

And as usual with DiscontentedWinter's works it has a plethora of stellar lines and observations that are just so spot on in life.

"Feeding Claude is a whole crazy thing.

It's like some kind of Jackson Pollack interactive experience."

Yes, totally relatable sentiments.

But, for me, both Derek and Stiles were out of character and dare I say it - Stiles was so annoying to me in this one, *gulps*. He was just a little too eager to be "insta-mom" in this one and his inner voice just a bit too "young" for me to reconcile him in my head.

But I kept trying to tough it out until ... "the big reveal" to the Sheriff. Which may be because I am getting sick of the "big reveal to the Sheriff" in Sterek fics. I just never find them believable. Stiles is highly intelligent, I just can't believe that he wouldn't be able to roll off a very logical lie from his tongue before letting it get to the point where he has to spill the beans on everything supernatural.

"I've got a job babysitting, yeah it is for Derek Hale, but ..."
"Derek asked me to help out with his kid, since he has no family ... because they all burned to death ..."
"I know being a single Dad can be hard, so I thought I'd help out ..."

As the only child of a single parent myself, I may be unusually adept at casually "not telling the whole truth" on the fly. But making it plausible enough that amazingly my curfew was never broken, I had perfect attendance at school and certainly had no idea what sexual relations were until I was 25. *wink, wink, nudge, nudge* What mom doesn't know won't kill her - it may have even saved her from a heart attack a few times.

I actually think the best way for the Sheriff to have found out about the supernatural and be most accepting of it in a way that made sense is the way that Davis did it in the show. It is probably one of the few compliments that Davis will get from me on the show.

At any rate, as always well written, plotted and composed, but content wise this one just wasn't for me.
