Kate is such a sweet kid, dealing with issues that seem like the end of the world to a 13 year old, like moving in the middle of the school year. She wants nothing more than to have a horse, but her parent's financial situation isn't great. Any horse loving teen will love reading this book. An excellent story that I would have loved when I was a teen, and I still loved as an adult very enjoyable read. Cook My Rating: 5 stars Let me share with you that this series is written for those in the age range of 8-12, and a sequel is due to come out this June titled, Silver Spurs. Even though it is written for a younger age group, I can say as an adult I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story! Some of the books I see in libraries for younger readers appalls me, but when authors write novels like this one I applaud! The story is faith-based and it is written with a feeling of realism. One instance is when Kate’s brother, Pete, who is autistic, is calmed when he is around a horse. While Kate feels quite at ease around horses it isn’t till she makes a new friend at school that she realizes her friend Tori is afraid of horses. When Kate’s Dad loses his job, they have to move to the farm where life is really different and Kate has to start at a new school with nobody as a close friend. I read Miralee Ferrell’s novels for adults and love her way of telling home style stories where faith and family reside. Miralee owns horses and loves reading, which flows into her writings naturally. Now, she begins a new series for young readers and has done a marvelous job. Please grab A Horse for Kate for your family or friends. Perhaps even consider donating a copy to your local library so others can fall in love with these books too! HTML: A horse of her own would be awesome. But Kate figures that might be a long way away, especially since she had to give up riding lessons and move to her late grandfather's farm. Besides, it would be a lot more fun to have a best friend to ride with. When Kate discovers a barn on their new farm that's perfect for a horse, and a dusty bridle too, she starts to think that her dream might come true. Then she meets Tori at school, who is totally the best. So when they discover a thoroughbred that appears to be all alone, could it be the answer to her prayers? Maybe. If she can convince her dad ... and figure out what's going on with that horse. .No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |
