Great book about a girl who goes to France, and becomes more independent. Fun read, but hard to put down! I finished it quickly, just a few hours, because it is such a short novel, but it was worth every second! ( )

Seventeen-year-old Nicole dreams of spending the rest of her life with her boyfriend Nate. So when she finds herself on her way to Paris to study abroad without him, she’s less than thrilled. Paris is filled with cars that move at the speed of light, edible snails, and a language that Nicole can’t speak or read. Worst of all, Nicole feels lost without Nate. She’s not sure she’s capable of finding joie de vivre on her own, but with the help of some new friends—and a certain handsome Frenchman— Nicole might find Paris as sweet as a café au lait after all.

I would love to travel a lot, and this book shows what it would be like to travel to a different country from an American point of view.

The book is very joyful and light. It's pleasure and easy reaad. I think the storyline is not very attractive to a high school student even though it is about high school life. It is a very easy book to pass time though. I think it does creat some interest among readers who'd like to know lives abroad as a student I guess. But compare to other high school ife books, this one is not interesting enough to attract most high schoolers. ( )

I was exceptionally disappointed in this book. The series was recommended to me by a fellow high school teacher and I couldn't wait to get my hands a book. But by the time I was half way through Pardon my French, though, I had to force myself to continue reading. The ending provided no reward for my perseverance.
The book features a typical high school student whose parents force her to move to France for a semester to study. The protagonist is furious to leave behind her comfortable clique of friends and her amazing boyfriend Nate. Due to anger and fear, she throws up on the doorstep of her host family's home upon arrival. Though she meets some amazing foreign girls who also study at her school, she spends most of her time emailing her American friends and Nate. She refuses to appreciate the country around her which leads to a mostly miserable semester abroad.
I found this book predictable, boring, and flat. Though it introduced a Parisian love interest for the protagonist, the story lacked dimension and a strong plot. I am desperate now to read a good book to forget this one. ( )
