One of Alan White's pseudonymous follow ups to Ian Kenndey Martin's original trio of Sweeney novels. Someone is going around planting bombs in Soho strip clubs. They claim to be from the League of Decency and are intent on closing down the sin trade. Regan of course suspects a different motive. He's not wrong but makes a bit of a hash of solving the case. First read this five years ago and thought it was utter tonk. Giving it another try, it's not that bad, but still the weakest of the Balham books that I've read. The actual story is quite clever but I suspect the restrictions of the TV-Tie in don't really give it room to breathe. One of those few novels that could do with being a bit longer.

The title is a complete mystery. Regan and Carter do meet up with a couple of strippers whom they take to dinner. Both women are portrayed sympathetically and in are no way crooked. Very strange. ( )
