When two bounty hunters, a merc and a writer, receive a contract to catch a criminal you'd think someone would have the guys mugshot available. Think again. Dominique and Eddie are two bounty hunters in a dying universe stuck searching the dregs of humanity for an escaped criminal when Past and Future collide.

Is it possible to hate the main character within the first 10 pages? Eddie (a writer with a past) is the focus along with his rival-in-love (the escaped criminal). The entire book is a mix gunfights and the classic past-catching-up-with-someone cliche. There's no character development (Eddie remains a whiny git) and minimal world building, but the book is paced well enough to keep my attention. Even with many off-hand references to the state of the 'world' it feels like a missed opportunity to flesh out a fantastic history and universe.

Still, it's a good start. It gets and keeps the attention, then leaves you wanting more. Hopefully the next two will delve a bit more into the world building. ( )
