The charm of purchasing books overseas is that its text is not water-downed as a history book may be in school. The title takes its name from the historical foundation/introduction in the book which opens with “Francisco Pizarro had already launched his bloody conquest of Peru when decided to establish his capital of the new colonies of the Spanish crown…. On January 18th (1535), Pizarro founded Lima and called it ‘The City of Kings’.” Despite my word choice of modest, it’s nonetheless content rich with photos galore (even if small-ish size) and a good balance of descriptions for the photos. The coverage is fairly board and had one unique topic – the Inquisition, with photos of the torture methods that were conducted in the Plaza Mayor. I found this book a bit more raw, less filtered, and thus charming. :) ( ) sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
