Growing up in the small town of Gobbleville, Anamazie studies acting, singing, and dancing while basking in the local spotlight as a star baton twirler. Opportunity comes knocking when she is discovered by a talent scout and is cast in a major motion picture. Gobbleville is a town for turkeys. Anamazie is a talented young turkey who leads the band with her twirling baton, takes acting classes, as well as singing and dance lessons. She dreams of becoming a movie star. This book is for all those youngsters out there who dream of doing something big. Anamazie never gives ups, practises all the time and eventually succeeds in her dream.

When Anamazie enters the 'Gobbleville’s Got Talent' show, she makes it to the finals. Her mother is convinced that she will win and continually encourages her to do her best. When someone else wins the contest, both Anamazie and her mother are disappointed but it does not last. When she is approached to audition for a part in a movie, they are both thrilled. Of course her dream comes true and she continues to encourage her friends to follow their dreams.

The pictures in this book are wonderful. Large, colourful with a lot happening that certainly add to the story. A great read aloud for children to teach that message of working hard, encouraging one another and following your dreams.

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. ( )

Fun with a good moral
This story is so much fun and the animation is magnificent. Now my daughter wants to see Gobbleville on TV. It’s neat to read about the movie making and see a little bit of the process. As a dad, I appreciate the good morals the author included… and all the clever character names. ( )

Young Reader Reaction: What struck our 12-year-old about the book were the beautiful, bright illustrations. She kept ooh-ing and aah-ing over all of the characters ("they're so cute") and she spent more time looking at the scenery and all of the activity going on in the illustrations than reading. Overall, she said it was a "good book for kids."

Adult Reader Reaction: Adorable. I have to agree with my daughter - the colors are so positive and happy. There are some great references that adults are more likely to get than kids, and some great information about how a movie is made. My only wish was that Henrietta Pearl (Anamazie's mom) was toned down. She was too stereotypical for my taste, and I would rather have seen her as a "partner" with her daughter rather than pushing her from one activity to the next.

Pros: Fun illustrations and a happy ending will engage readers of all ages to enjoy Gollywood Here I Come. Kids will be asking to visit Gobbleville to watch the parade.

A fun, positive book with eye-catching animation.
What a cute book! I especially enjoyed the old Hollywood feel yet it’s so “now” with the references to current reality TV. Any mom would take delight in reading Gollywood to the little ones because of the moral this little turkey conveys in the story.

The morals I picked up from this book are perseverance and dedication. It seemed that the heroine didn’t have such an easy road to stardom. And after she became a movie star, Anamazie was big-hearted to go back to her friends and encourage them to follow their dreams. She is a good role model for her classmates and the reading audience. I think this book is inspirational and thoughtful as well as fun for the kids. ( )
