I’m happy to say that this book went back to the familiar feel of book one. It’s more put together and with more action. There’s two new characters introduced and we find out more about Peter’s ex and kids. In fact the book is more about family.
First Evan, who tends to take things into his own hands, connives to get a puppy for Peter. A puppy named Hazel. The puppy doesn’t overwhelm the storyline, but figures into it at the appropriate times. I liked that much of the book was about being a family and the fun banter and issues couples can have. The mishaps were realistic not over the top. I also liked the way the author handled the bisexual topic, since Peter and Dan are both bisexual.
Will and Lawrence drift in and out of the story along with a new couple, Jesse and Dan, who are featured in the next book. Towards the end of the story, life takes a surprise turn for Peter’s ex, Toni and the kids.
I think this book is much better than book two. It’s almost like you could skip book two and just read one and three, but you would miss out on the relationship of Will, Lawrence and Bob. Maybe someday the author might consider tidying up book two because it doesn’t match the fun or skill level of books one and three.
Hazel Takes Over is a fast, fun read. I think it’s probably the best of the three books I’ve read so far. I give it 4 Stars.
