I liked this book because it is silly. This story seems to push readers to think about what a child does and why they suck their thumb and what would make them stop. I think it is so funny that the Grandfather thinks that bribery will work the best using money. The Grandmother used candy and ice cream which would be my first thought at first as well, but that only works for so long. I never would have thought the Grandmother would get her to stop sucking her thumb the way she did and actually talk. That was the most unexpected ending. The pictures also helped to enhance the book because they were so detailed. I truly liked this book. The main message of this story is to not care what other people think and to not get embarrassed. Mia is a little girl how sucks her thumb. She does it no matter what she is doing. Her family tried several different things but couldn't get Mia to stop sucking her thumb. Finally, her grandmother started sucking her thumb, and Mia was embarrassed, but granny didn't care she was too old to be embarrassed. ( )

Mia has a habit of sucking her thumb. Everyone tell her to stop but she wouldn't. They tried all sorts of way to get her to but she won't budge. She couldn't understand what's the problem of her sucking her thumb. Sucking her thumb create comfort and ease her when she's scared or nervous. One day her grandmother got an idea to get her to stop and it was a clever one. Grandma joined the fun and started to suck on her own thumb. Grandma enjoyed it, but Mia thought otherwise. She was embarrassed. She tells her grandmother to stop. She's way to old to be sucking her thumb. And then that's when realizes she's also too old to do that. A lesson learned from her witty grandmother. I find this book is pretty enjoyable and fun to read. This book can teach kids to break away from certain habits that needed to stop when they''re older. Sucking on thumb is one great example that kids tend to do. ( )

Mia sucked her thumb because it comforted her when she was sad, when she excited, and when it encouraged her to be brave. Mia sucked her thumb when she was watching a movie that was exciting or boring. Her mother told Mia to stop sucking her thumb because she was a big girl. Her father told her if she continued to suck her thumb, Mia would have crooked teeth. Mia did not care about crooked teeth and continued to suck her thumb. Her brother felt embarrassed while walking with Mia. Mia’s grandfather tried to pay her money, so that she could stop sucking her thumb. Mia’s grandmother bought her an ice cream, and Mia stopped sucking her thumb. When Mia finished her ice cream, she began sucking her thumb again. Her grandmother saw how pleasant it was to suck the thumb, so her grandmother began to suck her thumb also. When Mia saw her grandmother sucking her thumb, she told her grandmother that it was embarrassing. The book reflects a young girl finding satisfaction when she sucks her thumb, and it also displays how adults imitate children’s behavior. ( )
