I liked this book because it is silly. This story seems to push readers to think about what a child does and why they suck their thumb and what would make them stop. I think it is so funny that the Grandfather thinks that bribery will work the best using money. The Grandmother used candy and ice cream which would be my first thought at first as well, but that only works for so long. I never would have thought the Grandmother would get her to stop sucking her thumb the way she did and actually talk. That was the most unexpected ending. The pictures also helped to enhance the book because they were so detailed. I truly liked this book. The main message of this story is to not care what other people think and to not get embarrassed. A lesson learned from her witty grandmother. I find this book is pretty enjoyable and fun to read. This book can teach kids to break away from certain habits that needed to stop when they''re older.
