Completely delivers on the excellent set up left behind by the previous omnibus. The cop-on-the-ropes tropes are excellently played, and the pay-offs are satisfying and memorable. Some of the more supernatural stuff with Walker is admittedly bit bewildering and hurts the pace a bit, but I have faith it will pay off in time, like most things about this book. And it helps that Walker himself is almost as stellar a protagonist as Pilgrim. ( )
