This is a facsimile edition of a travel guide published in the late Edo period (mid 19th century). Besides rather detailed maps (in 4 colours) of the different regions of Japan, there are some pages of text containing tips about how to travel (on horseback, walking, in a palanquin, etc.) and how to escape accidents, how to treat minor injuries, how to calculate time, etc. For each town, village or county, the name of the place is given, next to the name of the local Lord - with details about his status and possessions (calculated in rice volume). This facsimile was probably edited on the account of the Japanese National Railways in the 1980s, but no precise information is given about this. A nice book, bound in the traditional way.
