This was a fun read, reminiscent of the magic of Time Bandits, Harry Potter and Peter Pan mixed into one, with a little of the Never Ending Story thrown in for good measure. I know the book had to end, but I was sad, and I look forward to reading more to find out what happens to all of the characters., especially Fin and Marrill.

The story alternated from chapter to chapter at first until the lives of the characters crash into each other. Magic and fantasy combine with a bit of realism and the result was a good mix of whimsy, brevity and adventure. I love the idea of the Pirate Stream and how it wove through the story - don't touch the water because the magic will be too strong! A definite fun read for higher elementary and middle readers, I would recommend to children (and adults) who love fantasy. ( )
