REALLY GOOD STORY ( ) I spent most of this book feeling absolutely horrified but somehow not able to stop reading. The idea that the rain could be dangerous, as well as the rest of the drinking water is quite terrifying. Apart from a bit of an iffy interaction with what I assume to be a trans character, the main character Ruby was likeable and seemed quite realistic for a teenage girl. She stops to apply make up and spends time picking out clothes from high street shops, but also cares deeply about her family and friends. It was fast paced and was sometimes a little lacking on detail. Ruby seems to rush around from place to place quite abruptly and makes very impulsive decisions. I would have liked for her to stop and think a bit more, or to learn from her mistakes a little more, but overall I think she's quite consistent. I am quite interested in reading the sequel seeing as the book was left on such a cliff-hanger, and I would hope that we would start to leave some of the most horrifying things behind. I almost gave this book a 2 because it was fast and easy to read. But you know those people that if the world were to come to a halt right now you at least wouldn't have to deal with them any more? For 90% of the book that is who the main charicter is. The wrighting is poor, the main charicter is nauseating, and from the way it read the author probably hasn't acctuly ever experienced dehydration... or even really looked it up, which is odd as it is a BIG plot point. And yes, I am not a teenager, YA is not my preferred reading group, I only read this because a co-worker insisted it was amazing. So I am very much not the target audience of this. But trust me, if I had read this as the asshole teenager I used to be I would be even less forgiving then I am being now. The good thing, and it almost hurts me to say that, is that by the end the main character does seem to acctuly show some growth and development. First off, this is a young adult story narrated by a young girl who has issues with her step dad. Once you understand those two things, you can forgive the writing as it's meant to help portray the world to you through her eyes. We are introduced to this girl's story as an after effect to what she's witnessed, it's her way of coping with the way things transitioned after the sky started dropping deadly rain and water became poisonous. She struggles in the beginning to understand what's happening, being graced with the initial spark of love quickly snapped out by reality. Only from the mercy of others does she manage to survive the onset of the world collapsing around her so she can mature enough to become more dependable and self reliant. It's a very good story about how a young girl would struggle to survive, all the silly things that could potentially distract her from the gravity of the situation. There are moments of comedy in the way her curse words are filtered in her 'journal' with the picture of a butterfly. She maintains her morality in this book as evidenced by her self filtering while showing regret at times for the choices she's made to ensure the survival of those she's with. This is definitely something I wouldn't mind a teenager getting wrapped into. As an adult, if you like easy reading with a creative spin on the post-apocalyptic type scenarios, give it a read. I was alternating between tears of loss and laughter at random times in this book. After all, when one tiny droplet of water can kill you -- how would you survive? 4.5* This is such an interesting story based on an intriguing and unique premise. It's a post-apocalyptic tale with a mix of horror, gore, humor and suspense and the basic element that sparked the tragic chain of events is water. "H20" is a look at what happens after killer rains take out most of the population from the main character Ruby's POV. After the sudden and heartbreaking loss of family and friends, she is struggling to survive in a society riddled with calamity and strife. I really enjoyed this book and I liked reading this story from Ruby's viewpoint. After all, her random shopping sprees are exactly what I would have done! This book will definitely have you thinking twice before you step out in the rain. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
