Suspense This was a very good story, with a few surprising plot twists to keep it interesting. I couldn't put it down, and finished it in only a couple of days. A bit more romance than I normally like, but probably it was necessary for the full effect of the plot. I'd recommend this for Jack Reacher fans - the hero was very much like him, I thought. Wealthy, well-known philanthropist, Dr. Emory Charbonneau runs a successful medical practice as a pediatrician with her two OB-Gyn partners. Also a marathon runner, Emory likes to challenge herself, so she plans a training run in the North Carolina mountains, much to the chagrin of her husband, Jeff. When Emory falls during her run, she is rescued by a local mountain man who refuses to tell Emory his name or take her back into town, using the weather as an excuse. The more time Emory spends with this mystery man, the more questions she has, along with an attraction to him that she can't easily explain. Mean Streak starts out with a great premise that is carried through most of the book until the last few chapters where the twists take unbelievable and far-fetched turns. The character of Emory's husband, Jeff, is so cliched, the parts of the story involving him are hard to read. Other characters are underdeveloped, especially those that become important by the end of the book. However, the first two-thirds of the novel are very enjoyable, building an interesting mystery and a fun romance between Emory and her mystery man. Overall, Mean Streak is a mostly enjoyable story with an unsatisfying conclusion. Fun fast read. This one had a very strong romance in it so even though it is sold out of the regular mystery/thriller section it really fits better in the romantic suspense genre. The whole thing was fast paced well written and interesting. There were lots of twists and turns and the whole thing held together well. Recommended. Although the book had its faults, the way it was written kept you wanting to continue reading. Emory is suppose to be such a smart dr. yet due to bring so involved in her work, she misses key facts of her personal life. Her husband fights with her, cheats on her with her coworker who pretends to be her BF, she falls immediately in love with her captor. Yet the way the info is presented kept this reader wanting to figure out more answers. Surprised to find the connection to the FBI. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
