It lived up to its name. The characters were very witty and likable. It was so hard to put down to go to work. Keep up this type of story. I really needed the lightness of this book at this time. I received this book from bookfun.org for a fair and honest opinion. Title: Match of Wits Author: Jen Turano Pages: 352 Year: 2014 Publisher: Bethany Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Match-Wits-Jen-Turano/dp/0764211277/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&... Since this book was the fourth one in a series and having not read the previous ones, it seemed kind of long. I appreciated the pig Matilda and some of the funny lines that would unexpectantly crop up between characters, but there didn’t seem to be a lot of action to the story. I realize it is a romance mainly between Agatha and Zayne, but outside of them there were parts without much to keep me glued to the pages. Both Agatha and Zayne appeared self-centered and perhaps that was the author’s intent to have readers come away disliking that character trait. I wonder too how a female author can write about the internal thoughts and struggles of a male character and while not always completing the thoughts in the novel, the audience couldn’t help but complete them. Brothels could have been shown more for the disgusting and oppressive businesses that they are instead of seeming to be acceptable in the book. All reviews no matter who writes them are subjective in nature. Some loved this book and others not quite so much. While I appreciate the opportunity to read another novel, it just seemed to lack the adventure and intensity that I want to captivate my attention when I open a book. I loved the humorous parts because I love to laugh and would rate the book higher if there was more adventure than there seemed to be. I hope the author keeps writing, but adds more action, adventure and intensity in her future novels. My rating is 3 stars. Note: The opinions shared in this review are solely my responsibility. After his departure from New York two years ago to meet up with his almost-fiancee, Zayne Beckett is the last person Agatha Watson wanted to stumble upon in her travels as a reporter with the New York Tribune. Quite pathetically bedraggled, he clearly needs to be taken in hand and sent back East to his family. Although she no longer has feelings for him, Agatha realizes, by hook or by crook, she'll have to be the one to get the obstinate man home. Zayne has no desire to be taken anywhere and is prepared to drag his heels all the way home . . . until he finds himself slipping back into the familiar banter of his former friendship with Agatha. Once they arrive in New York, Zayne realizes Agatha's determined nose for news has earned her a few enemies, and he hopes to repay her help with some help of his own. When she rebuffs all his attempts to prove himself a knight in shining armor, the lengths to which they'll go to win this battle of wills lead to some memorable antics. Everyone else may think them a match, but nothing could be further from the truth-until Agatha finds herself in real trouble. Have these two stubborn, too-smart-for-their-own-good people been meant for each other all along? No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |
